A case has been registered at the Hyderabad Cybercrime police station after MIM MLC Mirza Rehmat Baig complained of threatening calls. The callers allegedly demanded money and threatened to release morphed photographs and deepfake videos to cause embarrassment.

Hyderabad: A case has been registered at the Hyderabad Cybercrime police station following a complaint by MIM MLC Mirza Rehmat Baig, who alleged that unidentified persons were threatening him over the phone.
According to the complaint, Baig had been receiving calls from unknown individuals for the past few days. The callers allegedly demanded money and threatened to release morphed photographs and deepfake videos if he failed to pay.
The suspects reportedly warned that the material could cause embarrassment to his family and create political problems for him. Despite repeated calls and demands for money, Baig refused to comply and approached the Cybercrime police.
Based on his complaint, police registered a case on Thursday and took up an investigation to identify the callers and ascertain their motive.
