Minister Dayakar Rao inaugurates FSTP in Jangaon

Jangaon: The State government is trying to dispose the faecal sludge in eco-friendly way and produce the manure for the crops by setting a total of 71 Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTPs) across the State, said Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao after commissioning the 15 th FSTP set up at the Champak Hills locality here on Friday.
This 20 KLD FSTP was set up at a cost of Rs 2.30 crore by Priyadhar Green Environ Pvt Ltd in association with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) for the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) department.
Speaking on the occasion, Dayakar Rao said that as many as 15 FSTPs including the one at Jangaon, tenders had been called for setting up of 68 FSTPs so far.
“The technology is combined biological treatment with solar sludge drying and decontamination,” he said and added that treated water can be used for tanker washing, gardening and for irrigation as well, while dried sludge is treated in a solar pasteurization room for disinfection and then can be used as organic manure or soil conditioner.

“In the past people used to defecate on the margins of the roads in the villages and from time to time everyone built toilets under Swachh Bharath and other programmes but still the stench came together in the drainage canals,” he said and stressed the need for the treatment of the faecal sludge in eco-friendly method.
“Septic tank cleaning vehicles should collect the waste from septic tanks and dump it in the FSTP,” Rao added.
Local MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy, ZP chairman Pagala Sampath Reddy, District Collector Ch Shivalingaiah, Additional Collector Abdul Hameed, Jangaon municipal chairman Pokala Jamuna, municipal commissioner Chandramouli, councilors, officials and others were present on the occasion.
