Hyderabad: Tuesday’s heavy downpour and rains that lashed since September resulted in heavy inflows to minor irrigation tanks in Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts with over 1,359 minor irrigation tanks in the two districts receiving surplus water as against its full reservoir levels. Around 1,025 tanks out of 2,031 in Ranga Reddy district and 334 out of 489 in Medchal-Malkajgiri district received surplus inflows this time. The surplus inflow led to inundation of several houses at nearby colonies abutting the tanks. Such was the flow of the rain that the Nalla Cheruvu abutting Hyderabad-Warangal highway in Uppal was flooded, obstructing the traffic after Tuesday’s downpour that continued till early Wednesday.
