‘Mission Bhagiratha put end to fluoride in Nalgonda’
1,718 grama panchayats and their hamlets getting safe drinking water supply in Nalgonda district under Mission Bhagirataha

Nalgonda: Home Minister Md Mahmood Ali on Sunday said the State government has succeeded in solving the decades-old fluoride issue in Nalgonda district through Mission Bhagiratha.
Speaking after hoisting the national flag at 75th Independence Day celebrations held in Nalgonda, Mahmood Ali said that 1,718 grama panchayats and their hamlets have been getting safe drinking water supply in Nalgonda district under Mission Bhagirataha. It has helped in putting an end to the fluoride menace in the district.
Stating that Nalgonda district witnessed significant development in the last seven years, he reminded that the works of 4,000 megawatts ultra-thermal power plant, which was taken up by the state government with an estimated cost of Rs 11.353 crores, were fast progress.
He said that 44 industries with an investment of a total of Rs 713 crores came up in Nalgonda district in the last year due to the initiative of the state government TS-iPASS. They would provide employment to 3,500 youth in the district. New ration cards have been extended to 11,395 eligible families in the district, he added.
He said that the development works and infrastructure development has taken up in eight municipalities in the district by the state would change the face of the towns. Integrated veg and non-veg markets would soon come up in eight municipalities in the district as their works were under progress.
Stating that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has accorded top priority to the welfare of Muslims, he said that clothes were distributed to 11,000 poor Muslims by the officials for the Ramzan festival.
He reminded that BHAROSA centre was recently opened at Nalgonda and four SHE teams were working in the district to deal with the issues of safety of the women.
District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil, Superintendent of Police A V ranganath, Nalgonda MLA Kancherla Bhupal Reddy and Nalgonda Municipal Chairman Mandadi Saidi Reddy also participated in Independence Day celebration.
