Mizoram CM to move resolution in Assembly to adopt “Ro Min Relsak Ang Che” as official state song

Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma will move a resolution in the state Assembly on Thursday seeking the adoption of Mizo song “Ro Min Relsak Ang Che” as the official state song, an official said.

The resolution is expected to be adopted after deliberation by members, he said.

The state cabinet had approved the song as the official state song earlier on August 10.

Composed by renowned Mizo writer and composer Rokunga in 1947, “Ro Min Rel Sak Ang Che” (Be Thou our Counsellor) was declared as Mizo anthem by the Mizo National Front (MNF) during the insurgency period.

Since then, the song has long been considered the state anthem, although it lacked official recognition.

In 2022, the Mizoram government under the MNF had directed all schools across the state to sing the song before classes commence.

Officials said that two amendments and fresh bills, including “The Mizoram (Land Survey and Settlement Operation) Bill, 2026” will be introduced and are expected to be passed by the House before it is adjourned sine die in the evening.
