Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Sirpur (T) MLA Konru Konappa, known for serving the public in various means, will perform marriages of 111 economically backward couples on the premises of the ancient Sri Kalika Devi temple on the shores of Peddavagu, a tributary of Pranahita, on Sunday. He had sponsored nearly 300 weddings of the tribal pairs so far.
Konappa, who is winning accolades for satiating hunger of 1,500 persons every day by operating a meals centre in Kaghaznagar town, has come forward to solemnise the wedding of 111 couples belonging to tribal and economically backward communities at the temple on the banks of the rivulet. He will sponsor mangala-sutra, crockery, new clothing and iron almirah to each newly married couple as part of the initiative.
“To express my gratitude to the people of Sirpur (T) Assembly constituency for electing me thrice, I have been organising a slew of community service programmes. Sponsoring wedding of financially poor couples is one of them. Elaborate arrangements have been made for success of the mass weddings,” Konappa told ‘Telangana Today.’ He requested the public to grace the occasion.
The MLA said that the beneficiaries were already identified after enquiring about their financial background. The pairs belong to Penchikalpet, Bejjur, Koutala, Dahegaon, Chintalamanepalli, Sirpur (T) and neighboring Maharashtra. Their names have been finalised after verifying their economical and family backgrounds. The pairs were requested to invite the family members and relatives to the event and to bless the couples, he stated.
Meanwhile, Zilla Parishad Vice Chairperson Koneru Krishna and Kaghaznagar municipal vice-chairperson Rachakonda Girish Kumar inspected arrangements by visiting the venue of the mass marriages on Friday. Penchikalpet mandal TRS president Choudari Tirupathi, mandal parishad president Jajimogga Srinivas, Kondapalli Sarpanch Upasi Sanjeev and his counterpart of Agarguda Pale Sudhakar were present.
