Sangareddy: As decks have been cleared for municipal elections of Zaheerabad since the High Court vacated a stay on the elections, Zaheerabad MLA K Manik Rao and District Cooperative Marketing Committee Chairman Malkapuram Shiva Kumar have urged Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao to initiate steps for conducting the elections for Zaheerabad Municipality.
Challenging the merger of five villages in Zaheerabad Municipality, the villagers of Hothi (K) had approached the High Court in 2018.
When the elections were held in all the municipalities and municipal corporations in 2019, the Election Commission could not conduct the elections for Zaheerabad since there was a stay in the court.
Since the stay was vacated last Thursday, Zaheerabad TRS leaders led by Manik Rao and Shiva Kumar met Rama Rao in Hyderabad on Friday and urged him to take steps to conduct elections.
The Municipal Administration Minister has promised to initiate the process for the election.
