Sangareddy: The election for MLC from the Medak Local Authorities Constituency is expected to be a cakewalk for TRS since the party has 777 votes from the total of 1,027 votes. The Congress has just 230 votes while the remaining parties including AIMIM have 20 votes. With some leaders such as Tekmal MPP Swapana Ramesh joining TRS ahead of the election, TRS is expected to get more than 777 votes with party sources saying they expected the figure to go beyond 800.
While the TRS has fielded senior doctor Vonteri Yadav Reddy, the Congress has fielded T Nirmala, wife of Sangareddy MLA T Jagga Reddy. Apart from these two candidates, one independent candidate Matta Malla Reddy is in the fray.
To restrict cross-voting, both the main political parties shifted their voters to camps at various locations 10 days ago. The voters will reach the election booths straight from the camps on Friday to excise their franchise. The Congress is hoping for some cross-voting to stay afloat. .
Meanwhile, Medak District Collector and Returning Officer S Harish said all arrangements were in place for the election which will be held at nine booths in Sangareddy, Medak and Sididpet districts at 8 am and end at 4 pm. The election staff had already left for the polling stations with the material on Thursday from the distribution centre in Medak.
