Nalgonda: Progressive Recognised Teacher’s Union Telangana State (PRTUTS) candidate Pingali Sripal Reddy has been elected from the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Teachers constituency over UTF candidate A Narsi Reddy.
The counting which commenced early in the day, continued till late in the night. After 19 rounds of counting, UTF candidate Narsi Reddy was eliminated and PRTUTS candidate Sripal Reddy was declared elected with 13,969 votes.
Addressing media persons at the counting centre here on Monday, Sripal Reddy said the verdict delivered by the teachers was valuable. “I will strive to address the long-pending issues of the teachers. My victory was expected much before the elections were conducted,” Sripal Reddy said according to reports.
Similarly, UTF candidate A Narsi Reddy admitted defeat. “Victory and loss are part and parcel. I request the winning candidate to address the teachers’ issues,” Narsi Reddy.
Though the campaign was conducted rigorously, teachers did not want to elect me for the second time, he said, according to reports.
Elections for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Teachers constituency were held on February 27. As many as 22 candidates were in the fray and Nalgonda Collector Ila Tripathi was the Returning Officer for the elections.
