Khammam: MLC Tata Madhusudhan staged a protest over protocol violation and alleged failure of the district administration in extending an invitation to attend the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) meeting held here on Friday.
The MLC, who attended the meeting wearing a black scarf, expressed his anger that, being a local bodies’ MLC, he was not informed about the meeting and that it was a gross violation of protocol. He entered into a heated argument with the committee chairman MP R Raghuram Reddy over the matter.
Madhusudhan alleged that the MLC and Rajya Sabha members were not informed about the meeting held in Khammam, while they were getting invitations from the Kothagudem district administration to attend such meetings. He said such protocol violation had not happened in the past.
Raghuram Reddy said that he was not involved in the protocol violation, assured the MLC that he would ensure such lapses would not happen again and asked him to join the meeting.
District Collector Anudeep Durishetty tried to clarify that as per revised Disha guidelines, the State Secretariat has to inform the concerned MLC and Rajya Sabha member, and that the district administration had sent a letter to the Secretariat about the meeting.
Madhusudhan stated that ten Assembly constituencies come under his local bodies’ MLC constituency, but he was not informed about any official programmes and was also not invited to the Disha meeting.
It was a violation of rules. When the BRS was in power, every public representative was invited to Disha meetings and officials waited until they arrived at the meeting hall, the MLC noted.
He insisted that the Collector should give an assurance that such a mistake would not happen again. The dispute was resolved after the Collector assured him that he would ensure such miscommunication would not be repeated.
