MMC Commissioner reviews facilities at immersion points ahead of festival

Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy inspected Ganesh idol immersion sites in Hyderabad and directed officials to ensure safety, sanitation and eco‑friendly measures.

Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy on Wednesday inspected Ganesh idol immersion sites and directed officials to complete safety, sanitation and eco-friendly arrangements in advance.

He also reviewed facilities, approach roads, lighting, sanitation and security at Rampally Lake, Kapra Lake baby pond, Edulabad Lake and Uppal Nalla Cheruvu, a press release said.

At Rampally Lake in Nagaram ward, he directed officials to construct a baby pond for small idols and establish separate immersion points for small and large idols. Officials were asked to deploy cranes, medical teams, ambulances and fire-safety equipment and establish a control room. At Edulabad Lake, Reddy sought a reusable baby pond, removal of old idols and clearance of silt, mud and waste.

He directed that small idols be immersed only in designated artificial ponds at Kapra Lake and Uppal Nalla Cheruvu. The ponds should be drained, desilted, sanitised and refilled with fresh water.
