Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bengaluru on August 10 to inaugurate the much-awaited Yellow Line of Namma Metro, covering a 19.15 km stretch between RV Road and Bommasandra, with 16 stations built at a cost of Rs 5,056.99 crore.
Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya confirmed the PM’s visit on social media platform X. Khattar wrote, “I am pleased to announce that PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Yellow Line and also lay the foundation stone for Phase-3 of Bengaluru Metro, which involves a massive Rs 15,611 crore investment to construct 44.65 km of new metro lines.”
Surya added, “August 10 will be a historic day for South Bengaluru. The Prime Minister will not only green-flag the Yellow Line but will also perform the bhoomi pooja for Phase-3, which together are expected to benefit over 25 lakh Bengalureans.”
The Yellow Line is expected to ease congestion significantly, especially at the Silk Board Junction, one of the city’s most notorious traffic bottlenecks. With a projected daily ridership of 8 lakh, the new line is seen as a game-changer for Bengaluru’s public transport network.
Surya also thanked the Prime Minister for allocating nearly Rs 20,000 crore specifically for metro infrastructure in South Bengaluru. “On behalf of the people of Bengaluru, I thank PM Modi. His personal intervention ensured the project met its August 15 deadline,” he posted.
With Phase-3 construction kicking off, the city’s metro network is poised for a significant expansion, aiming to offer faster, greener, and more reliable transit for the growing urban population.
