Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi tender an unconditional apology to the people of the State for insulting Telangana martyrs.
In a tweet, he said: “PM Modi’s speech in Parliament has exposed two big facts.
1. It was Congress and not TRS which got Telangana State.
2. BJP hates Telangana & did nothing for it. Modi should apologize unconditionally for insulting Telangana martyrs. #ModiHatesTelangana(sic).”
Meanwhile, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka took exception to the remarks made by TRS leaders stating that the Congress delayed the process of giving Statehood to Telangana.
The Congress intended to grant a separate State for Telangana and for that, it ensured consensus among everyone and granted Statehood, he said. Besides Modi, TRS Ministers and leaders were criticising the Congress unnecessarily on the issue, he said, at a press conference here.
Both BJP and TRS were playing dramas and flaying the Congress. Finance Minister T Harish Rao and other leaders should tender an apology for making remarks against the Congress, which fulfilled the aspirations of people of Telangana.
Congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy, who was also present, said the Congress granted Telangana despite knowing that it would suffer a major loss politically in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. The separate State was sanctioned for the overall development especially jobs for the youth in Telangana, he said, adding that both BJP and TRS were responsible for failing to develop Telangana on all fronts.
