Hyderabad: Police Vari Hecharika opens with a chilling premise; a gang terrorising the city, targeting VIPs for huge ransoms and leaving the police force clueless. The murders, bold and brutal, mirror real-life crime waves like the infamous Dandupalyam gang stories. As fear spreads, the government’s silence sparks outrage. That’s when Satya Murthy (Ajay Ghosh), a fiery Communist leader, steps in, going on a hunger strike demanding justice. The big question is, who is behind these crimes, and can the police stop them before it’s too late?
Performances That Hold the Film
Ajay Ghosh steals the show as Satya Murthy. His commanding screen presence and raw intensity make his character the film’s strongest pillar. Himaja delivers a surprisingly cold and convincing act as part of the ruthless gang. Jaya Vahini, as a determined cop, brings the right dose of grit and seriousness. Director Babji himself takes on the role of a folk singer and performs well in his cameo. However, senior actors like Sayaji Shinde, Ravi Kale, and Shubhalekha Sudhakar are barely given scope, which feels like a missed opportunity.
Technical Aspects
The story may tread a familiar path, but the fast-paced narration keeps the tension alive. Action scenes pack a punch and will certainly appeal to the mass audience. Karthik B Kodakandla’s background score deserves special mention, it heightens suspense and drama in key moments. Gajwel Venu’s songs are passable, not particularly memorable. Cinematography by Kishan Sagar and Nalinikanth ensures the visuals stay sharp and engaging, while the production values look solid for the genre.
What Works
- Ajay Ghosh’s powerhouse performance
- Thrilling background score
- High-energy action blocks
- Clean entertainment without vulgarity or gore
- Decent production quality
What Doesn’t
- Predictable storyline with routine twists
- Underused supporting cast
- Songs that don’t leave an impact
Final Word
Police Vari Hecharika is tailor-made for those who enjoy gritty action dramas with a social angle. While it doesn’t break new ground in terms of story, its tight screenplay, strong performances, and racy action sequences make it a watchable one-time entertainer for the masses.
