MP intensifies anti-drug drive, targets trafficking syndicates: CM Mohan Yadav
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the state is intensifying its fight against drug addiction and trafficking, similar to its campaign against Naxalism. He said MP Police are targeting narcotics syndicates as part of efforts to make India drug-free by 2029
Indore: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Saturday that just as the state has achieved success in its efforts to end Naxalism, a campaign is being conducted along similar lines to protect young people from drug addiction and dismantle drug-trafficking syndicates.
Talking to reporters here, Yadav said the Centre has set a target to make the country drug-free by 2029. In line with this, the state government is collaborating with seven neighbouring states to wage a strong campaign against all forms of substance abuse. He said the MP police have taken strict action against several networks involved in the drug trade, and their members are being arrested continuously.
Yadav said, “Our government has achieved success against Naxalism. To save the youth from drug addiction, the police are working with full force against syndicates involved in the narcotics trade as well.” The Madhya Pradesh government had declared the state Naxal-free on December 11, 2025. This announcement followed the surrender of Naxalites active in the Balaghat district.
