Multipurpose park ready for inauguration in Karimnagar
Except installation of a 500 kv capacity transformer, all other works have been completed. Municipal authorities tested the functioning of the musical fountain on Tuesday night with the help of generators.

Karimnagar: The multi-purpose park developed in the town is ready for the inauguration. Except installation of a 500 kv capacity transformer, all other works have been completed. Municipal authorities tested the functioning of the musical fountain on Tuesday night with the help of generators.
Besides the rhythmic rise of water, the functioning of the music system was also tested in the presence of Mayor Y Sunil Rao. A few corporators, municipal engineering department officials and contractors were also present. The musical fountain was developed by spending Rs 2 crore as against Rs 12 crore utilized to establish the multipurpose park.
In order to develop a recreation facility in the town itself, Karimnagar municipal corporation authorities had developed the park near Telangana Chowk as part of the Karimnagar Smart City programme.
Since the park has been established in the premises of the historic multipurpose school, it is being called a multipurpose park.
The works began in 2020, with various facilities such as attractive landscaping, synthetic walking track, children playground, musical fountain, amphitheater and other facilities being developed in six acres of land. Besides park development, revival and beautification of the heritage school building was also taken up.
While landscaping works were taken up with Rs 5.50 crore, the walking track was laid by spending Rs 1.50 crore. Besides developing a children’s playing area also with synthetic EPDM material, different types of playing equipment have also been arranged by spending Rs 50 lakh.
Authorities are contemplating to arrange food stalls for the convenience of visitors. Two parking places have also been developed for vehicle parking.
