Hyderabad: High drama prevailed in Kodad municipality on Tuesday after the Congress party was accused of ‘kidnapping’ a candidate and influencing a few others to withdraw their nominations.
There were allegations that a woman candidate was made to wear a burqa to conceal her identity while withdrawing her nomination.
Similarly, two other candidates were allegedly kidnapped and influenced to withdraw their nominations in the 11th ward. Despite these incidents, police and officials on election duty failed to bring the situation under control, BRS leaders alleged.
Protesting what they described as official inaction, BRS leaders staged a protest at Gandhi Centre, according to reports.
