Hanamkonda: A white tiger, Sharan, aged around 15 years, died at the Kakatiya Zoological Park in Hanamkonda due to old age and cardiac arrest.
While the average lifespan of a white tiger is around 14 years, this white tiger lived up to 15 years because of the medical care and attention provided by the Kakatiya Zoo’s veterinary officers and staff, said officials.
The tiger had been suffering from age-related blood pressure, heart and kidney problems for the last two months. Despite continuous treatment by the medical staff, it died on Tuesday due to a cardiac arrest, zoo park assistant curator B Mayuri told the media.
As per the instructions of the Chief Wildlife Warden, a post-mortem would be conducted according to protocol and a report would be submitted to the head office, she added.
Sharan was brought to Kakatiya Zoological Park from Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad in July 2025.
