Nagaraju confident as DRK faces tough Indian Women’s League football championship
DRK Football Club has announced its squad for the Indian Women’s League to be held in Kerala. Coached by Nagaraju, the Telangana-based team features players from across the State and aims to perform strongly despite being placed in a tough group
Hyderabad: The DRK Football Club, which will take part in the Indian Women’s League football championship in Kerala from March 22 to 28, was named here.
Nagaraju of Nizamabad, who mentored international G Soumya, will be the head coach.
The team: Sushmitha, Rithika, Sameeksha, Varsha, Savithri, Keshu, Nagasri, Ananya, Varshitha, Nakshathra, Mahima, Alekhya, Kalpana, Jyoti, Anjali, Lavanya, Pavithra, Harini, Jyoti Jagat, Rakshitha, Pragna. Team physiotherapist: Dr Yashasree. Team manager: Keerthana. Head coach: Nagaraju.
For the record, DRK Football Club is promoted by Dr Kavitha Reddy from Nizamabad.
“There are four players from Nizamabad, nine from other districts of the State and the remaining from other States,” Nagaraju informed Telangana Today.
“It has been my dream to see the Telangana team in the IWL and I am glad that I have a role to play in it,” he said.
“The preparations have been really good. We are in a very tough pool but hope to give our best and live up to the expectations,” said Nagaraju.
“Well, now we have two more girls in the national camp from Telangana. So, women’s football has improved thanks to the support from the Government and the Telangana Football Association. But there is still a long way to go,” the coach said.
