Hyderabad: Since the time the father-son duo’s latest film ‘Bangarraju’ has been making waves, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya have been making headlines for sharing several inside stories of the film, and their family.
Now, Nagarjuna has finally opened up, breaking his long silence on how Naga Chaitanya handled the separation from actor Samantha after 4 years of their marriage.
Well, the news of the divorce was surely a shocker for many Chay-Sam fans. While many raised questions against the decision, it was only actor Samantha who responded to some of the igniting rumours. However, the Akkineni family remained silent until recently.
However, during the ‘Bangarraju’ promotions, Nagarjuna shared, “I am very proud of how calm he remained through it all. He was not provoked into uttering a single word. Like any father, I was very worried about him. But he was more worried about me than I was about him. He would ask me, ‘You okay, Dad?’ and I’d be like, ‘Errr, isn’t that what I should be asking you?’”
Chaitanya also said that his family stood by him and supported him during the difficult time.
However, on several occasions, it was shared that actor Nagarjuna was among the first ones to know about the separation and also issued a statement soon after the official announcement by the duo on their respective social media platforms in October 2021.
“With a heavy heart let me say this! Whatever happened between Sam and Chay is very unfortunate. What happens between a wife and husband is very personal. Sam and Chay, both are dear to me. My family will always cherish the moments spent with Sam and she will always be dear to us. May God bless them both with strength,” Nagarjuna’s note read.
However, it seems like both Naga Chaitanya and Samantha are coping with the separation by focusing on their work. Both the actors will be seen making their presence in Bollywood this year.
