Nalgonda man gets 21 years in jail for raping minor under POCSO act
A Nalgonda district court sentenced 35-year-old man to 21 years of rigorous imprisonment for repeatedly raping a minor girl, which left her seven months pregnant. The court also directed the State Legal Aid Authority to provide Rs 10 lakh compensation to the survivor.

Nalgonda: The district court on Friday convicted and sentenced a 35-year-old man to 21 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl, rendering her seven months pregnant. The accused, Chintapalli Nagesh exploited a teenage victim, whose family owed money to his father and threatened to kill her in a bid to silence her.
He repeatedly assaulted her, leading to her pregnancy, and warned her of dire consequences if she revealed the abuse to anyone. The incident came to light in 2021, prompting the Nalgonda One Town Police Station to register a case by invoking Sections 376(2)(n) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 5(j)(ii)(1)(n) read with Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
Delivering the judgment, the Additional District Judge-II cum Special Court for SC/ST Cases, Rape, and POCSO Offences found Nagesh guilty on all counts. Under the POCSO Act, he was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000.
An additional one-year jail term and Rs 5,000 fine were imposed under Section 506 IPC for criminal intimidation. The sentences will run consecutively, totaling 21 years behind bars and a Rs 30,000 fine. The court directed the State Legal Aid Authority to provide Rs 10 lakh in compensation to the survivor.
Meanwhile, in Hyderabad, a minor girl was raped by a youth in Shamshabad. According to available information, on October 18, the 17-year-old girl, who was alone in the house, was approached by the unidentified suspect requesting some drinking water. When the girl went inside to fetch it, he allegedly confined and raped her inside the house.
Based on the girl’s complaint, the Shamshabad police are investigating.
