Nalgonda: In a shocking incident, a man doused himself with petrol and set himself on fire in front of the Miryalaguda Two Town police station on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Guntoju Madhu, a resident of Bangarugadda in Miryalaguda. Police officers on duty acted swiftly and rushed him to hospital.

According to reports, Madhu’s mother had come to the police station to file a complaint against him, stating that he was harassing her and other family members under the influence of alcohol.

Since Madhu was intoxicated at the time, the police advised his mother to return in the morning and sent her back.

However, moments later, Madhu, who also accompanied her with a bottle of petrol, stepped outside the police station and set himself ablaze.

He suffered severe burns injuries and was rushed to the Nalgonda Area Hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.

Family members informed the police that Madhu was addicted to alcohol.

He would frequently harass his mother and other relatives. Police registered a case and started investigation.
