Nalgonda: Officials told to focus on growing plants in forest blocks

Nalgonda: Special Chief Secretary for Forests, Shanthi Kumari on Friday underlined the need to give importance to high-density planting of saplings in reserve forest blocks in Nalgonda district under the Forest Restoration Programme.
She held a review meeting with the officials of the Forest Department on programmes taken up by the department in Nalgonda.
She enquired with the officials about the works taken up in the district with the funds of the Compensatory Afforestation Fund. She made several suggestions to the officials on the development of two urban parks at Gollaguda.
Later, she also visited Neelagiri Nandanavan, an urban park developed by the Forest Department at Nalgonda and inspected the walking track and plants grown in it. She also inquired the officials about how many people were visiting Nandanavanam park and daily revenue through selling entry tickets.
District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Swargam Srinivas, Chief Conservator B Srinivas, District Forest Officer (DFO) Rambabu and other officials were also present.
