Nalgonda: Pensioners face hardship in Nakrekal as distribution limited to single centre
Senior citizens and differently-abled persons in Nakrekal are facing hardship as pensions are distributed from a single centre. Former MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah urged authorities to open more centres and provide basic amenities amid scorching summer conditions.
Nalgonda: Covering long distances and waiting for their turn in serpentine queues in the scorching heat, senior citizens and differently-abled persons are facing hardships in obtaining their pensions at Nakrekal municipality.
About 3,000 pensioners are residing in the Nakrekal Municipality. At present, the pensioners, including the senior citizens and the differently-abled are facing severe hardships as pensions are being distributed from a single centralized location.
Standing in the queues for a long time to collect their pensions has become an arduous task for them, particularly in the scorching heat. After learning about their hardships, former MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah raised objections over the government’s negligent attitude in pensions distribution in the Nakrekal Municipality, according to reports.
He spoke to the Post Office officials and the Municipal Commissioner to address the issue. Considering the prevailing summer heat, he suggested that pensions should be distributed at least at four separate centers for the convenience of senior citizens.
Apart from Babasaheb Gudem, Moosi Road, and Cheemalagadda, the former MLA wanted establishment of an additional centre. Basic amenities like tents, drinking water facilities and seating arrangements should also be provided to the pensioners, Lingaiah demanded.
The senior citizens and differently-abled persons, who arrived to collect their pensions, expressed their anguish over the severe difficulties they were encountering in obtaining their pensions, reports said.
