Nalgonda: Tension prevails at Arjala Bavi IKP centre

When the local BJP leaders arrived at IKP centre to welcome their State president, heated argument ensued between TRS and BJP cadre. They indulged in raising slogans and counter slogans.

Nalgonda: Tension prevailed at Arjala Bavi ahead of BJP State president Bandi Sanjay’s visit to the paddy procurement centre here on Monday. TRS activists staged protest against Sanjay’s visit, demanding that he should get orders from the Centre assuring for paddy purchase during Yasangi (Rabi) crop season.

Nearly an hour before the scheduled time of Sanjay’s visit, Nalgonda MLA Kancherla Bhupal Reddy along with more than 30 party leaders, visited the IKP centre and asked the farmers to question Sanjay about the decision of BJP government at the Centre not to procure paddy for Yasangi crop season. Bhupal Reddy made it clear that BJP leader has no moral right to visit IKP paddy procurement centre.


When the local BJP leaders arrived at IKP centre to welcome their State president, heated argument ensued between TRS and BJP cadre. They indulged in raising slogans and counter slogans.

The police swung into action and are trying to pacify both the groups. On the request of Nalgonda DSP Venkatrshwar Reddy, Nalgonda MLA Bhupal Reddy left the place, but TRS leaders camped at IKP centre to register their protest when Sanjay reaches the IKP centre. Sanjay is yet to arrive at Arjala Bavi.

TRS, BJP activists clash; 2 injured

At least two persons were injured when the BJP activists pelted stones at the TRS cadre who gathered at Shettipalem in Miryalaguda. The incident happened when the TRS activists were staging a protest against BJP State president Bandi Sanjay’s visit to the district. The police used mild force to disperse the crowd who gathered at Arjala Bavi, Shettipalem, Madgulapally, Chillapally and Garidepally.

The windshields of a vehicle in the convoy of Bandi Sanjay were damaged when a group of people attacked the convoy with stones at Chillapally bridge in Nereducherla mandal of Suryapet district, opposing his visit. A group of people tried to stop the convoy saying they would not allow BJP leaders into their area to visit the IKP paddy procurement centre as the BJP government at the Centre was taking decisions against the interests of the farmers.

When they attacked the convoy of Sanjay with stones, the windshields of a vehicle were damaged. The police swung into action and took them into custody. The police managed to provide safe passage to Sanjay’s convoy.
