Khammam: TRS Lok Sabha party leader and Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao has demanded the Centre to implement the Dalit Bandhu scheme, launched by the Telangana government, across the country.

He made the demand in Lok Sabha stating that the scheme launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was aimed at bringing light into the lives of Dalits in Telangana and it was a first of its kind scheme in the country.

Participating in the debate on the 127th Constitutional Amendment Bill-2021 introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Nageswara Rao said the historic Dalit Bandhu scheme offers a financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh to each dalit from poor background.

The MP also pointed out that the Chief Minister launched Rythu Bandhu offering investment assistance of Rs 10,000 to farmers. The Central government emulated the scheme and announced investment assistance to farmers across the country, similar to Rythu Bandhu.

He urged the Centre to implement a nationwide Dalit Bandhu as it did in the case of Rythu Bandhu while lauding the schemes being carried launched by Chandrashekhar Rao in Telangana

Referring to the 127th Constitutional Amendment Bill-2021, he said the bill would allow the States to include backward castes in the OBC list under Article 342A. Bringing the bill was a good outcome, he said, adding that the Telangana government was working for the betterment and welfare of the BCs.
