Mancherial: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao opined that Palle Prakruti Vanam or village natural parks were becoming favourite destinations for peace-loving rural denizens. He visited a park and planted saplings at Kishtampet village in Chennur mandal on Wednesday. He was accompanied by Forest Minister Indrakaran Reddy and Government Whip Balka Suman.
Speaking on the occasion, Dayakar Rao advised officials concerned and elected representatives to focus on improving sanitation, health, basic amenities, address electricity related problems and also ensure plantation of six saplings per household. He underlined the need to involve locals in developing rural areas in the State. He said that sanitary measures and increasing greenery were priority subjects in both urban and rural civic bodies.
The Minister, further, said that forests were being transformed into dense forests through forest regeneration activity. Village natural parks should be developed through the Miyawaki method, he said. “Today, no country has as many parks as India possesses. Sarpanches should focus on bettering sanitation and enhancing green cover of their rural habitations wherever open spaces were available in the ongoing massive plantation drive. They must take steps for survival of the saplings by setting up a fence around each saplings,” he stated.
He later participated in a similar event held the seventh edition of Telanganaku Haritha Haram at Joduvagula village in the similar mandal.
Zilla Parishad Chairperson N Bhagyalaxmi, District Collector Bharati Hollikeri, District Rural Development Officer Sheshadri, in-charge District Forest Officer S Shantharam and many other officials were present.
