Software employees, environmentalists, wildlife photographers and representatives of various NGOs participated in the one-day forest trip on Sunday.
Jayashankar Bhupalpally: The Orugallu Wildlife Society (OWLS) in association with the Forest Department conducted a one-day trip to the forest areas and places of historical importance in the district on Sunday, to give an opportunity to nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, birders, photographers, and adventure lovers, get a feel of nature’s wonders.
Speaking to Telangana Today, the secretary of OWLS Shyam Sunder Chelpur said they reached Naina Gullu in the morning. “Carved out of a monolith on a picturesque hillock close to the right bank of River Manair in Malharao mandal in the district, the Jain caves, locally known as ‘Naina Gullu’, are important historically and from the heritage point of view,” he said.
A team of experts explained the rare flora, fauna and animals in the forest to the participants. Retired District Forest Officer (DFO) K Purushotham explained the benefits of wildlife. “Later in the day, the members of the trip visited the coal mine near Edlapally village. After the lunch break, wildlife experts Shyam Sunder and Nageshwar Rao explained about the grasslands, flora and fauna of the charcoal forest area,” he said and added that the seminar was also organised with environmentalists to discuss forest conservation and species conservation.
Retired District Forest Officer Purushotham said that the forest excursions would bring peace of mind and peace of mind from daily exhaustion. “We are contemplating to organize more forestry programmes in the coming days,” he added. Software employees, environmentalists, wildlife photographers and representatives of various NGOs have participated in the trip.
