Kothagudem: Nava Bharat Ventures Limited (NBVL) has provided beds and mattresses to Manavaseva Voluntary Organisation based at Bhadrachalam in Kothagudem district.
The organisation founded by Patnam Sarojamma runs an old age home offering a comfortable stay for the destitute and those abandoned by their families. She served food and protected old age people during lockdown risking her own life in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
As part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative it was decided to lend a helping hand to the organisation and provided 20 beds and mattresses and lockers for the use at the old age home informed Nava Bharat Vice President Y Srinivas Murthy here on Tuesday.
He said Sarojamma also helped poor women and men affected by floods following heavy rains in the month of September 2020. In recognition of her generous charitable work Sarojamma and her husband Md. Hussain were felicitated and given a letter regarding handing over of the material, at Paloncha.
Srinivasa Murthy further informed that the company has also undertaken construction of toilets with an expenditure of Rs 9 lakhs at the old age home in response to a request made by the organisation.
Sarojamma expressed gratitude to Nava Bharat for its support and said the mattresses, cots and lockers provided by the company would be of great use to the senior citizens at the old age home. Dy. Manager (Social Development) M Srinivasa Rao was present.
