Nava Limited hands over Rs 3.60 lakh to women artisans in Kothagudem

Kothagudem: Cheques worth Rs 3.60 lakh were handed over to women artisans who earned the amount from the sale of palm-leaf handicrafts and stitching uniforms at the Nava Women’s Empowerment Centre in Paloncha, Kothagudem.
At a programme held at the centre on Saturday, company promoter Rama Devineni handed over the cheques. The centre was established as part of the CSR initiatives of Nava Limited. The women artisans earned Rs 2.58 lakh from the sale of palm-leaf handicrafts and Rs 1.01 lakh from stitching uniforms.
Speaking on the occasion, Rama Devineni said that when women become financially empowered, both the family and society prosper. She said women should excel in all fields and that such empowerment would ensure a happy and harmonious family life.
The company recently distributed spectacles to students of government schools in Paloncha following eye-screening camps conducted last month by Nava Limited and LV Prasad Eye Hospital across 14 government schools.
As many as 1,400 students were examined, and 170 received free medication and spectacles. Chief Monitoring Officer T Rama Rao, representing the District Educational Office, commended Nava Limited for its efforts towards the advancement of education and development of government schools.
