NCB seizes 813 kg of ganja on Hyderabad outskirts, three arrested
The Narcotics Control Bureau seized 813 kg of ganja from a modified lorry on the city outskirts and arrested three persons. The contraband was being transported from Odisha to Maharashtra. Further investigation into the drug trafficking network is underway.

Hyderabad: The Narcotics Control Bureau, in a major operation, seized 813 kg of ganja in the city outskirts and arrested three persons who are allegedly involved in smuggling of the contraband.
On specific information, the NCB Hyderabad teams intercepted a specially modified lorry transporting ganja from Malkangiri district, Odisha, to Latur, Maharashtra, in the city outskirts.
“Upon detailed search conducted in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985, the lorry was found to have an expired registration certificate. It was modified and contained a cylindrical cavity resembling a tank to conceal contraband. The cavity was camouflaged using grass and covered with a tarpaulin sheet, inside which 813 kilograms of Ganja were concealed and recovered,” said the NCB officials.
Three persons who were carrying the contraband have been arrested. “All are residents of Bidar district. Investigation revealed that one accused is a habitual narco offender. Earlier, he was involved in two ganja cases, one in Karnataka and the other in Maharashtra,” officials maintained.
The NCB is actively investigating the source, destination network, forward and backward linkages, and the involvement of other members of the drug trafficking syndicate, including financial trails, the officials added.
Further investigation is in progress.
