Sangareddy: The expert team from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), which visited the Sigachi Industries Limited accident site on Tuesday, expressed strong displeasure at the management for failing to adhere to safety protocols.
Accompanied by District Collector P Pravinya, SP Paritosh Pankaj, other senior officials and company representatives, the NDMA team inspected the site at Pashamylaram industrial area and posed a series of questions to the management and department officials.
According to sources, when the management failed to provide satisfactory answers, the NDMA members expressed their anger multiple times during the three-hour inspection. District officials, however, remained silent observers during these exchanges.
The team was focused on identifying lapses in safety measures and standard operating procedures. Despite repeated questioning, the management could not furnish clear responses, drawing sharp criticism from the experts. The team reportedly expressed anger at least three times during the site visit.
The delegation arrived from New Delhi around 10.30 am and spent nearly three hours interacting with management, employees, officials, and other stakeholders. They also collected samples from the site.
The NDMA members were reportedly shocked by the scale of the blast, which claimed 44 lives and injured more than 30 people. The team is said to have made preliminary suggestions to prevent such incidents in other industrial units.
Collector Pravinya briefed the team on the sequence of events during the explosion and explained the rescue operations undertaken by the district administration.
