Medak: A pregnant woman stranded in flood-hit Vadi village of Havelighanpur mandal was shifted to hospital by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Thursday, leading to a safe delivery.
The woman, Maloth Rajitha, developed labour pains in the morning, prompting the local ASHA worker to alert officials. On receiving the information, Collector Rahul Raj deputed an NDRF team to the village, which had been cut off from road transport due to heavy rains.
Vadi was among the worst-affected villages in Medak over the past two days, and rescuers had to find alternative means to move her. The NDRF team carried Rajitha on a stretcher to an ambulance waiting a few metres from the village.
She was taken to the Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) in Medak, where doctors ensured a safe delivery. The efforts of the NDRF team drew appreciation from her family and officials alike.
