Nearly 500 villages to go to polls in Adilabad
Arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of panchayat elections across erstwhile Adilabad district under the second phase. Officials confirmed that 477 panchayats would witness polling, including 139 villages in eight mandals. Campaigning concluded on Friday ahead of Sunday’s polls.

Adilabad: Arrangements were made for smooth conduct of polls to nearly 500 panchayats across erstwhile Adilabad district under the second phase on Sunday.
Officials said that 477 panchayats would witness elections in erstwhile Adilabad district under the second phase. As many as 139 villages in eight mandals such as Adilabad Rural, Mavala, Bela, Jainath, Sathnala, Boraj and Thamsi would go to polls.
A total of 111 panchayats in Mancherial district, 121 in Nirmal district and 106 in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district would hold elections in this phase.
The officials stated that polling staff had been deployed to conduct polls. Polling material including ballot papers, ballot boxes, etc., was dispatched to the villages on Saturday. Critical polling stations were identified. Security was tightened at these stations. Campaigning by contestants concluded on Friday.
