Khammam: The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) has recommended the State government to provide a regular job to the mother of a 10-year-old Devath Joseph who died at the Government Tribal Welfare Residential Hostel in Khammam.
In addition to the job, the TGHRC also directed the government to grant Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the family. TGHRC chairperson Dr. Shameem Akther held that gross negligence by the officials at the hostel led to the student’s death some time ago.
As the boy’s mother, who is deaf and mute earns irregular wages and cares for her daughter and aged mother-in-law, the commission recommended the Chief Secretary to provide a regular job in the last grade category by relaxing necessary rules.
Describing it as a just and humane measure to uphold dignity and basic human rights, the commission stated that the recommendations should be complied with within six months. A compliance report must be submitted to the commission.
