Mancherial: Mancherial MLA N Diwakar Rao said that everyone should strive hard to realise the ideals of the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He was the chief guest at the Children’s Day celebrations held marking Nehru’s birth anniversary.

Diwakar Rao paid tributes to the portrait of the former Prime Minister. He recalled that Nehru had played a vital role in the Indian Independence movement and had yearned for the freedom to this country. He stated that Nehru set up giant public sector industries that catered to the needs of a growing nation and its people.

Meanwhile, many private schools also organised cultural programmes in view of Children’s Day. Students of Akshara primary school presented dance shows and cultural programmes on the account of Children’s Day in Mancherial town. A fancy dress competition was organized. Councilor K Chaitanya Reddy was the chief guest of the celebrations. M Mounika, principal of the institution and teachers were present.
