Nepali gang drugs staff, burgles Jubilee Hills home; Valuables worth Rs 20 lakh stolen
A Nepali gang allegedly drugged apartment staff before fleeing with valuables worth Rs 20 lakh from a house in Nandagiri Hills, Jubilee Hills. The victims raised an alarm after regaining consciousness.
Hyderabad: In a well-planned burglary, a Nepali gang allegedly drugged apartment staff before decamping with valuables worth around Rs 20 lakh at Nandagiri Hills in Jubilee Hills on Thursday night.
The prime suspect, identified as Bhuvan, a native of Nepal, had joined the household as a cook about a fortnight ago. It is believed that he used this access to execute the crime.
Police said Bhuvan, under the pretext of celebrating his birthday, offered cold drinks laced with sedatives to the apartment watchman and domestic workers.
After they lost consciousness, he allegedly allowed three other associates, also from Nepal, into the house. Taking advantage of the absence of the family members at the time, the gang reportedly stole gold ornaments and cash from the house. The victims raised an alarm after regaining consciousness.
Following a complaint, the Jubilee Hills police booked a case and took up investigation. Special teams have been formed to nab the suspects.
