Mumbai: Streaming service Netflix on Thursday announced that its latest original series “Saare Jahan Se Accha”, a fictional espionage thriller headlined by actor Pratik Gandhi, will premiere on the platform on August 13.

Set against the politically charged backdrop of the 1970s, the show follows a covert intelligence operation to avert a looming nuclear threat.

Created by Gaurav Shukla and produced by Bombay Fables, “Saare Jahan Se Accha” stars Gandhi as meticulous and resilient intelligence officer Vishnu Shankar caught between duty, danger, and moral dilemmas.

The cast also features Sunny Hinduja, Suhail Nayyar, Kritika Kamra, Tillotama Shome, Rajat Kapoor and Anup Soni in pivotal roles.

“With ‘Saare Jahan Se Accha’, we’ve built a world that’s urgent, intense, intimidating, and full of quiet tension. Playing intelligence officer Vishnu Shankar, someone who walks the tightrope between duty and morality, was one of the most challenging roles I’ve taken on,” Gandhi said in a statement.

Directed by Sumit Purohit, the series explores the high-stakes world of intelligence where the slightest delay in relaying critical information could alter the nation’s fate. “Entrusted with a perilous mission to sabotage a looming nuclear threat, Vishnu must navigate a treacherous landscape to ensure India remains one step ahead of its adversaries,” read the official logline.

The show is written by Bhavesh Mandalia, Gaurav Shukla, Meghna Srivastava, Abhijeet Khuman, Shivam Shankar, Kunal Kushwah and Ishraq Shah.

Mandalia also serves as the creative producer alongside executive producers Shukla, Sejal Shah and Aditya Nimbalkar.
