Hyderabad: An advanced diabetes management system, the Medtronic MiniMed 780G hybrid closed-loop insulin pump integrated with the Guardian 4 continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensor, has brought renewed hope to a 14-year-old boy from Warangal living with Type 1 diabetes, doctors at KIMS Cuddles, Secunderabad, said.
The treatment has helped the boy improve his glucose control and participate in everyday activities with greater confidence and independence, said Dr Kishore Baske, paediatric endocrinologist.
Maintaining strict insulin injection schedules and the risk of dangerous drops in blood glucose levels at night had posed challenges for the boy in balancing diabetes management with school, sports and social activities.
The advanced system continuously monitors glucose levels and automatically adjusts insulin delivery based on sensor readings and its algorithm. The technology has enabled him to participate more comfortably in school activities and family gatherings, with less dependence on a fixed injection schedule.
