Hyderabad: Individuals suffering from prostate enlargement that often leads to complications like premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction, now have a new treatment option i.e. water therapy for treatment of their medical conditions.
The traditional way of treating prostate problems is medicines and later surgery. However, both approaches have their downsides, including erectile dysfunction and issues with ejaculation, particularly in younger patients. For such individuals, Rezum Water Vapor Therapy has emerged as a promising solution, Dr. C. Mallikarjuna, MD, and Chief Urologist at Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU), on Thursday said.
The water vapor therapy, which was launched in Thursday at AINU, Banjara Hills, essentially uses steam, delivered via injection, to target and shrink the excess prostate tissue compressing the urinary tract. This minimally invasive procedure can be performed under local anesthesia. The natural energy of the steam gradually removes the extra tissue, with results visible over a short period. Typically, one and rarely a second session are sufficient. The key advantage us that the water vapor therapy does not cause erectile dysfunction or ejaculation problems, Dr. Mallikarjuna said.
