As per the new zonal policy, students who pursue four years in a row till Class 7 in a district will be considered as a local for the specific district

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao on Wednesday expressed happiness over the State government’s achievement in ensuring 95 per cent reservation for local unemployed youth during recruitment of staff into State government services.

In a tweet, the Minister now that the new zonal system was in place, Telangana youth can get their rightful share in government jobs.


The Minister tweeted on the issue in the wake of the Centre’s approval to a proposal by the Telangana government to increase the reservations for local youth in State government services from the existing 70 per cent to 95 per cent. As a result, the vacancies available in the open category have come down from 30 per cent to five per cent.

Till date, the local status of a student was decided based on his/her education for four consecutive years from Class 4 to Class 10 in a respective district. As per the new zonal policy, students who pursue four years in a row till Class 7 in a district will be considered as a local for the specific district.
