Jagtial: Negligence of the staff at the Mother and Child Health Centre here came to light after two newborn babies were handed over to the wrong parents.

A native of Mangela of Beerpur mandal, Prasanna had approached the MCHC for delivery. On Monday, doctors performed two deliveries, including that of Prasanna and another woman. However, without crosschecking the tags fixed to the babies after delivery, the staff had handed over babies to the wrong family members.

Though one of the families raised objection that the towel in which the baby was wrapped did not belong to them, the staff allegedly did not consider their objections.

Enraged over the negligence of the staff, family members of a baby staged a protest at the hospital. Alerted hospital authorities corrected the mistake and handed over the babies to their actual family members.
