NHAI extends northern RRR tender deadline to September 23

The NHAI has extended the tender deadline for the northern part of Telangana's Regional Ring Road to September 23. The 161-km Sangareddy-Choutuppal stretch has faced repeated bidding delays, with Cabinet approval from the Centre still reportedly pending

Hyderabad: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has once again extended the tender deadline for the northern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) to September 23.

As per the previous notification, the bids were scheduled to be opened on August 21. However, the process has been postponed again for reasons known to Central government officials, a senior Roads and Buildings official said.

The NHAI had invited bids on November 11, 2025, for the construction of the 161-km, six-lane Sangareddy-Choutuppal stretch of NH 161AA under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I. The project is proposed to be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).

However, pending approvals from the Centre have repeatedly delayed the bidding process. The NHAI has extended the deadline several times, including to July 6, August 6 and August 20.

Except for approval from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, all other clearances for the northern part of the RRR have reportedly been secured.

The Centre has also allocated Rs 23,935 crore to the NHAI for taking up the works. Despite this, the tender process continues to face delays, with the deadline being extended yet again.
