Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy urged Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari to secure the Union Cabinet’s approval for the pending northern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and commence the works expeditiously.
The Chief Minister met the Union Minister in Delhi on Tuesday. During the meeting, the Chief Minister informed the Union Minister that 95 per cent of the land acquisition for the northern part of the RRR had already been completed. Accordingly, the Union Minister was requested to grant the necessary approvals for the southern section of the RRR.
Revanth Reddy informed the Union Minister that the works on the southern and northern parts of the Regional Ring Road would be completed faster and at a lower cost if the construction works commenced simultaneously.
The Chief Minister briefed Nitin Gadkari about the importance of the proposed greenfield highway connecting Hyderabad to the Andhra Pradesh capital city. The highway project was envisaged under the AP Reorganisation Act. He appealed to the Union Minister to approve the proposal.
The Chief Minister also apprised the Union Minister of the pending forest clearances for the Mannanur-Srisailam elevated corridor, which also covers the Nallamala Sanctuary, Srisailam Temple and Srisailam reservoir. He urged Nitin Gadkari to approve the corridor.
CM Revanth Reddy explained to the Union Minister the urgent need to sanction a six-lane alternative highway from Mancherial to Hyderabad, which would serve as an alternative to the existing Rajiv Highway. The Chief Minister assured that the State government would undertake the necessary land acquisition for the project. The new highway would create fresh opportunities for agriculture and business.
