NHAI road widening works damage water pipeline in Hyderabad, disrupt water supply
Water supply in several areas of Hyderabad was disrupted after a major pipeline from Patancheru to Hyder Nagar was damaged during NHAI road-widening works. HMWSSB has initiated emergency repairs, with Managing Director K. Ashok Reddy overseeing the restoration efforts.

Hyderabad: Water supply was affected in certain areas of Hyderabad after a main water line supplying drinking water to the city from Patancheru to Hyder Nagar in Manjeera Phase-2 was damaged during road-widening works carried out by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
On Tuesday, HMWSSB released a list of affected areas to the media due to a damaged water line. The areas include Ramachandrapuram (R C Puram), Ashok Nagar, Jyothi Nagar, Lingampally, Chandanagar, Gangaram, Madinaguda, Miyapur, Beeramguda, Ameenpur, Bhagyanagar Colony, Off-take points, bulk connections under transmission line, Erragadda, S. R. Nagar, Ameerpet, KPHB Colony, Kukatpally, Bhagyanagar Colony, and Pragathi Nagar.
In a press release, HMWSSB officials said, “To address the leakage, Water Board officials initiated emergency repair work. The HMWSSB managing director K Ashok Reddy inspected the work and reviewed the progress of the ongoing pipeline works with the officials concerned.
He directed the officials concerned to complete the work as quickly as possible and restore the water supply. The work was ongoing, and once the repair work was completed, the water supply would be restored in phases,” it said.
