NHRC expresses displeasure against School Education Secretary Yogita
NHRC expressed displeasure at Telangana School Education Secretary Dr. Yogita Rana for failing to submit a report on Choudari Shailaja’s death and 60 others falling ill due to contaminated food in Ashram schools, warning action under Section 13
Kumram Bheem Asifabad: the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) expressed its displeasure against School Education Secretary Dr Yogita Rana for showing negligence in submitting a report with regard to the death of Choudari Shailaja.
The student died after eating contaminated food at a Ashram School in Wankidi mandal centre, while nearly 60 girls fell ill on November, 2024. It issued a notice to Yogita seeking the report on Wednesday.
According to the notice, the NHRC, which took up the matter on a petition filed by lawyer Rama Rao Immaneni, found that 866 cases of food poisoning had occurred in government-run Gurukul schools. It had earlier ordered Dr. Yogita Rana to submit a report, but the government did not respond so far.
In the notice, it was stated that the Commission conducted a re-examination of the case and expressed deep dissatisfaction over the non-submission of the report. It warned about taking action under Section 13 if a comprehensive report was not submitted within two weeks.
