Hyderabad: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), under the Union Ministry of Textiles, will set up a Design Resource Centre (DRC) in Hyderabad. Apart from Hyderabad, nine more such centres are being set up in other cities across the country.
These DRCs are being set up with the objective of building up and creating design-oriented excellence in the Handloom sector. They will also facilitate weavers, exporters, manufacturers and designers to access design repositories for sample or product improvisation and development.
DRCs have been set up at Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Jaipur and Varanasi. A new DRC was inaugurated at Kancheepuram on August 7, 2021, coinciding with National Handloom Day.
