Hyderabad: Former Minister S Niranjan Reddy on Monday launched a sharp counter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s remarks at the Makthal public meeting, accusing him of hollow talk and zero delivery. He said that despite repeatedly calling himself a son of Palamuru, Revanth Reddy had failed to implement even a single meaningful project for the region.
In a statement, Niranjan Reddy said that not a single brick had been laid for the integrated international schools promised two years ago, beyond the foundation stones. He accused the Congress government of abandoning the Palamuru–Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Project instead of completing the 10 per cent pending works and providing irrigation water to farmers.
Countering the Chief Minister’s claims on debt, he said the BRS government had incurred Rs 3.48 lakh crore debt over ten years, while the Congress had already borrowed Rs 2.5 lakh crore in just two years, excluding corporation loans. “Only this government keeps taking loans while claiming Telangana is rising,” he said.
The senior BRS leader argued that Telangana’s economic decline contradicted the Congress’s lofty claims. He pointed out that Telangana’s revenues grew even during the COVID-19 pandemic by 25 per cent, but under Congress rule, growth had fallen to -0.76 per cent. “Borrowing endlessly and pushing development backward while boasting of trillion-dollar dreams is absurd,” he said, referring to Revanth Reddy’s claims.
He accused the Chief Minister of ruining gram panchayats, undermining the education system, abandoning welfare schemes and leaving farmers adrift. He stated that the Congress government’s two-year record was marked by deceit, disorder and empty speeches, while the people continued to wait for real development.
