Nirmal farmer gets two-year jail term for death caused by illegal electric fence

Nirmal: A farmer was on Tuesday sentenced to two years of imprisonment and fined Rs 2,000 for causing the death of a man by laying an illegal electric fence around his farm in Neelayipet village, Mudhole mandal, six years ago.
The Principal District and Sessions Court Judge, Vani, delivered the verdict against Degavath Shankar, finding him guilty in the 2019 death of Bankolla Bhumesh. The court observed that the accused knowingly installed an electrified fence, fully aware it could result in fatal consequences.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Dr Janaki Sharmila commended the investigating officers for securing the conviction. She asserted that no offender could escape justice.
