NIT-Warangal turning heads with innovations
Institute's faculty, research scholars excel in innovations secure patents and awards

Warangal Urban: The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, ranked among the top 20 technical Institutions in the country as per the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings in 2020, is carving out a niche for itself in innovations. Last year alone, faculty members and research scholars collaborated on innovative projects and secured eight patents besides bagging several prestigious research projects from various national institutions.
NIT-W Director Prof NV Ramana Rao, in a chat with Telangana Today, said another 10 applications for patents were pending with the Intellectual Property India under the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade at the Centre.
Among the notable patents are those of Prof A Venu Gopal, his research scholar Dr K Kishore Kumar and their team for an invention called ‘Milling Cutting Tool’ while Prof R Venkatachalam got the patent for an invention titled ‘A Mechanism to provide perfect steering condition in four-wheel vehicles.’
Dr Ajey Kumar Patel, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering and his research scholar Dr Achanta Ramakrishna Rao have been granted an Indian patent for their invention ‘Hybrid Tank Aerator.’
